Soon after he became Bishop of Malindi Catholic Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Emanuel Barbara saw the problematic situation of many young people in this diocese and initiated the process of having a rescue home, so initial plans were drawn of the original nine buildings, namely:
.Administration block
.Pregnant mothers’ house
.Girls’ house
.Boys’ house
.Mothers with young child house
.Sisters’ house
.Chapel
.Laundry
.Dining hall / Kitchen and costs approximated. In the meantime the Bishop resolutely appealed for funds, especially from his home-country Malta.
